Is snap shot another name for incidental obs.. those which you see during a session and are note worthy,
eg child counted to 10 while playing with food in home corner.
Or
or put pegs into a pegboard. etc etc
Observations to show how a child is developing through play. not necessarily needing a next step but could have if you feel it is appropriate, we do sometimes ahve them if we notice a need to support or further development of a skill.

Sorry dont know completely..just giving ideas to perhaps help you focus...or then again confuse!!

could types of recording formats be the kind of observations..eg time and flow, narrative, target child, tick list, sociogramme etc. or could also include recording voice (one we had to do.. not easy!)

Snap shot, incidental obs, WOW moments - are these all the same.

I assume these don't necessarily require follow on planning to extend?
