looking at the whole child and not just one part,, involving physical development, cognitive development, emotional & social development, communication & language. taking in consideration when planning, setting up, not to do it for one but for all learning areas, as you can't do one without the other, as they are interlinked, plan for age and stage

its also looking at an individual aspect of the childs development i.e language but concidering other areas when looking at ages and stages the norm etc

for example its saying your observation shows their language skills are dalayed then looking and seeing things holisticly and saying this may be due to... for example the child having 2 languages spoken in their home etc
