General question Interactive Staff display board ?

What sort of rota or system do you have in place for staff to take turns adding information to the notice boards ?

Do you have many boards that involve/need updating ? staff, work shift, holiday timetabling, parents the childrens own display or maybe project display areas ..

we have 4 notcie boards ~(we arent allowed any more) 2 of which are the staff ones and are cupboard doors! so not even really notice boards.

staff one holds - staff rota, keyoworkers, onetoone rotas, planning, obs charts, post it places. etc etc etc

parents info one holds - reg cert, fire evac, notcites, accrediation, paretnal information, that mostly dont get read!

then we have one for childrens work, and displayts which is not big! and all staff are able to change it

Staff interacting with the staff notice board....... "I don't think so!!"

I can say all honest that they carry the board in and out of the cuboard each day, and with hand on my heart, I can say- not one member of staff know what's on it!" Which is daily rotas, key-children, planning etc- they will ask me each day, I direct them to the board, they go off muttering - then ask me again the next day!!!

I've made them sound awful- which they're not - just they have never been involved with 'running' the setting for themselves- and have had years of being told... "you do this, today, and you do that" .......... we're getting there..slowly. This post has made me think though...I might start putting little observation/assessment tips on the board- that might draw their attention more.

we have always had a planning area for all to add to and change or adapt, up til now it had been a set plan for term and changes made when we fee the need form the children, now it is more a way of recording a quick observation on a child or children and how to put it in the planning for the next week, staff record obs, put on the plan for next steps and put it into the following weeks plans. sounds complicated but it is only about 4 sheets to do all this,

we also have the displays of childrens work, all staff add or remove from this as do the children by asking someone to do it or help them to put thier work up.

More 'formal displays' are done showing what we have done or are doing with the children, all staff input

Rotas etc on parents info board we all know what is there but one person checks and changes it.
