I struggled with this but eventually came up with:
Age: Use suitable language according to age, facial expressions, body language, physical contact and listening to adults e.g. stories are important to young children where as older children seek verbal reassurance and approval and want to be listened too and have questions answered.
Gender: (the hardest I thought!) Adapt activities so they are not one sided, do not favour one gender over the other e.g. always play with the girls, when talking/asking questions do not assume a child has certain interests because of their gender
Ethnicities: Important to work closely with family and child to understand any different variations of behaviour according to culture, speak slower and clearer, repeat words, simplify sentences, use pictures/flash cards
needs & abilities: learn and use makaton signs and pictures, speak slower and clearer and make sure the child can see you
I think that is on the right lines!! I hope so anyway lol
