Help! Outdoor play

Hi,
This is one of my optional units which I thought would be easy but hit a snag!
2.1 Explain the importance of making an assessment of children's outdoor play
My answer in short would be to see how much/far ability the child has, build their confidence etc
2.4 Research sources of information to support the development of outdoor play!
My answer - BLANK!

Hi, assessing the outdoor play areas is important as it's an effective way to check what's out there and if it's meeting children's needs, is age appropriate ie. not too easy, not too challenging/high, low, deep, inaccessible. During assessment, risks are noticed, hazards are acted on and everyone gets to know what their outside play environment looks like, who enjoys it, why and where.

Hi, Ruthierhyme,

Could you by any chance expand more on this, as my assessor needs a longer answer. (I'm not just copying the answer, I am just in need of more help :(. My mind has gone completely blank as I have written a lot on experiential learning.
Thanks in advance,
Lydia

Hi, have you included how assessment helps you identify what's available outside, what areas there are and the type of resources children use the most and least often, if there are reasons for that and to spot hazards and risks before they cause injury.

Do you think your outside area works? Could it be improved and what do the children say they want to happen outside? more ride on toys that mean larger spaces for riding and meeting their physical development and health needs? Physical activity guidelines

Sources of information are you, colleagues, management, the children, parents, local play areas, departments, organisations and charities.

Find a play area near you
