There is a collection of links that may help with research on this thread - creative and creativity

The importance of encouraging parents and carers to support childrens creative activities revolves around how parent's /carers are the one constant in a child's life. They are the ones with the ability to encourage, engage and motivate creative endeavours for the immediate now and in the years to come. The evidence that supports how children learn through creative activity is the weight that gives this importance.
