I'm using the EYFS now and since there isn't any absolute obligation to do medium term plans - I don't do them any more!

Long term encompassing festivals, celebrations, special occasions, themes etc

Short term following each child's individual interests

Saves a lot of time, effort and unnecessary duplication!!

Same as Sarah really, our medium term plan really just keep the parents informed of any upcoming festivals/events etc linking it to items for our interest able ~parental involvement, working in partnership ~ and thats about it really.

Although we give a list for the interest table - we emphasise this is only a 'guide' and children are encouraged to bring in items of (genuine) interest to them -i.e a leaflet from a day out, photos, leaves from the walk in ---- we then try to link this with our short term/daily planning.
