DCSF opened a consultation for the period of January 21st - April 14th 2008

The proposal is to allow independant School inspectors / & companies.

I fully support open trade but this doesn't sit well .. will it make things unneccesarily complicated & cost too much to manage & orchestrate ?

Costs can be minimalised & streamlined to their fullest efficiency when everything is independantly contained 'in house & when it's nationally required guidelines that are being requested by central government should regulation & inspection facillities remain in house ?

1.2 These developments, which relate to inspection of independent schools, are taking place against the backdrop of the Chancellor’s announcement in the 2005 Budget of a Public Services Inspection Strategy, which seeks over time to have fewer inspectorates, each with a wider perspective. Inspection has played an important role in driving up standards in schools. However, as public services become more user-focused, inspection and the regulatory frameworks need to be regularly updated. They must strike the right balance between providing assurance on standards and quality, and ensuring that the necessary safeguards are in place to protect vulnerable users.
