Hi,

This page of CWDC Children's workforce development council has all the Lv 2 unit pdfs available that you can refer to if needed.

NVQ level 2 handbook on amazon may also help if unable to secure one from college or library.

The two knowledge points you have asked about would be quite big replies for here so would advise you look at your own setting / work placement and see what your group does in answer to each point .. Please feel free to ask about any specific ones you get stuck with.

It can help readers to know what you are asking after if you type in the full knowledge point that you are having problems with.

It might also be easier for you to link what's being asked to your practice by putting 'How do you and your group before each of the points .. and later develop that into what you might change or how you could, would like, or feel should change to better what is done.

Unit 203 - Support Children's development
K2D49 How to support children’s development from 3 to 7 years. You need to know why and how to:

1. How do you and your group Provide a safe, secure and encouraging environment
2. How do you and your group ..Make sure all the children you work with can take part equally, including those with disabilities and special educational needs
3. Develop close and consistent relationships
4. Support children’s emotional well-being, confidence and resilience
5. Be realistic, consistent and supportive in your responses to children’s behaviour
6. Allow children to assess and take risks without over or under protecting them

7. Use appropriate activities, materials and experiences to support learning and development

8. Identify activities and equipment to support children’s play, creativity and learning,

including how these are used to best effect

9. Support children’s interest in numbers, counting, sorting and matching
10. Play with and alongside the child, sensitively supporting their play
11. Use every opportunity to encourage children’s communication and language development,
such as talking, listening, making eye contact, singing, rhymes, and stories
12. Support children’s communication in bilingual or multilingual settings
13. Support children’s interest in reading, mark making and writing
14. Support children’s communication in bilingual or multilingual settings

15. Contribute to an environment that supports children’s physical skills and confidence in movement

K2T1112 Support children through transitions in their lives e.g.
• Children aged 0 to 3 years coming into daycare, changing rooms, leaving parents
• Children aged 3 to 7 years as they move between different settings and into school
Open days, introductory parent and child visits/tours around the school, letters and postal contact, Lunch and play time initiatives where new Children are able to join in with these times before full time enrolement. Fundraising events arranged between groups - help everyone get to know the new setting and feel more comfortable/confidence in new surroundings. Visits by teachers for a story time or chat ..
• Children aged 7 to 12 years as they move between different settings, such as moving to a new school
• Young people aged 12 to 16 years for change, personal growth and moving on

If you search Silkysteps for the word 'transition you'll find many threads that help look at how settings support children through these times - Search page

You could also get in touch with your tutor/assessor to ask if you will be having any chats / professional discussions that will help you cover these points and to find out if they have any guidance they might be able to help you with ..

Best wishes, enjoy the site.
