General question describe the scope of the areas of learning in the eyfs?

What does scope mean? I don't understand I have even tried to simplify the sentences because they use words I don't know!

Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks Guys

Hi scope means the extent of something, how far reaching it is, which in turn helps to show the content of something (who it might impact on, how and why) and what boundaries or limitations that involves.

For the early learning areas their scope covers England's expectations for 0-5yr old children's learning and development. This involves 7 different areas that setting's are required to observe in practice and provide opportunities for - PSE, physical, communication & language, literacy, math, knowledge of the world and art + design.

If you read page 7+ of the eyfs framework it helps introduce the aim & requirements for the learning areas, goals & assessment.

Quote; There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape educational programmes in early years settings. All areas of learning and development are important and interconnected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting
children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to
learn, form relationships and thrive.
