Childcare workers should always remember that children have the right to their own privacy as stated in the Human rights act 1998. All information held on children or parent/carers are protected by the Data protection act 1998 this means all information regardless of how it is kept i.e. computer or paper, stored information should never leave the setting. Only people working close to the child should have access to this, but parents always have the right to view any information we hold on their child, information held should not be given to anyone regardless of the reason, unless you have received consent to give out information to other professionals, the only time we have the right to break confidentiality is if we have suspect that the child’s safety is at risk.
this was part of anther question i answered i feel it will help you and it has the data protection act and human rights act, in which always helps, please reword and maybe link to your setting, carol
