for this you need to research the differences between adult and child led play and structured and unstructured play. look at tina bruces work an of course read the eyfs! which has a lot to say about play

The EYFS influences play as we are always providing children with activities, equipment and resources to meet the six areas of learning. The EYFS says that children should have positive relationships with adults who look after them, and through this we can find out their interests. By doing this we can give children the opportunity to do things they enjoy which will encourage them to learn through their play.

thanks, i was reading the EYFS yesterday i just wasnt sure how to word how it influenced play. thanks again :)
