What type of setting do you work in? Is this a pre-school / nursery?

hi, i agree you should be choosing your own optional units suited to your job, it would make life easier for you. I have found this site really helpful. I also linked my 303 to 310, waiting for it to be marked! I am doing 307, 308, 309, they are not too bad at all. have come to a halt at 304, some of the answers on here have been helpful. Its mainly the pc's in 304. my manager is relutant to give me an appraisal yet, she says its not due til next yr! how have others got on with 304?

what i did is:
Knowledge questions - answered the questions and provided examples
after an observation of an activity ask your tutor to ask questions and do

reflective accounts - for example
having carried out .....i have found that i could develop.... by looking at different resources and asking staff for feedback on how i can improve

(if its something that involves for example dealing with behavior or your finding a particular area difficult you could say...having reflected on dealing with a child's behavior i feel as though i could benifit from training in this area and i will look to find a relative course in ..... months - this then covers all the PC's in continuing practice)

You could use a previous appraisal if you have one. Explain how you met training & work targets. Also a personal development plan (PDP) is very useful for this unit. Show training you have attended, plan to attend over next 6 months - 1 year. Evaluate training attended say what you took away from the training and used in your everyday work. Make sure your PDP targets are smart. Somewhere on this site there is a fantastic piece about Personal Development & Self Evaluation. I will see if I can find it again.

Also when you observe and or plan activities for children do you evaluate your own input and how you could change your own practice to help childrens learning? Again this is very useful evidence for this unit.

Click Forums button at top of this page. Go to EY Downloadable Resources about the 5th one down titled Personal Development Plans. The Reflective part is really useful for 304 knowledge.

All the best with this unit.

It is unbelieveable you have not met your assessor yet! In a previous post you said you have done 302 / 307. These are both very visual units and should be observed by an assessor. I would contact your training provider and complain.

You ask what I do um... not sure I want to say reading some of the posts on here!

I am an NVQ assessor, verifier and trainer ... ok I will duck now!!

Many of you seem to be getting so little support ... I will help out where I can

I will have a look at the options again but your tutor may well be advising suitable ones considering your job role.

I have looked at the options 337 would definitely fit in with the work you are starting, 321 if you are working with children with special educational needs. 308 is another possibility.

I'm studying part time at college covering the knowledge part of the course. I know my assessors name, but she hasn't been in touch yet so haven't had an observation so far. We're still covering the knowledge for unit 301, but may well be given the rest as homework tomorrow and then we move onto unit 302. The course details I have seem to indicate that as well as the mandatory units we will all be doing units 306 and 307, but the other 2 units are up to us. I plan on doing unit 310 and 339 (as I'm the SENCO at work - although am new to the post).
