Foundation degree - few pointers please! x

Hi,
I have just started my foundation degree and need a few pointers with my first assignment. As there is such a strict word count I am not sure exactly what they want and I dont want to waffle and miss all the relevant points! My title is " How do society's ideas about children change over time? Why is this significant for those working with children and families?"

When you started you would have been given a booklet that covered each assignment you would do by your tutor. Each unit heading will set out the criteria you need to meet to cover your assignment. along with this it normally gives you the learning outcomes for each unit. The best way to tackle your essay is to make sure that you have met the criteria set out. You should also have been given a reading list for each unit, the books listed covers the relevant information that would be needed to answer the queston. You could just type the question into gogle and would probably get enough info to cover your essay. Make sure you reference properly from day one it makes life easier if you get into the habit from the start. You can use microsoft office to help you with this. It is normally harvard referening unless otherwise stated by your university.
Stick to the main points of the question only but always link theory to your practice if you can, as this always seems to get better marks. The first assignment is always the hardest but gives a good benchmark to work with.

Hi, You could talk about how society looked on childrens education in the past and how it is looked on now, the changes in the education system and the implications this has on our children today. You could maybe talk about the changes in legislation for chilren with disabilities and how this has changed drastically over the last 4 decades, our diverse ethnicities and the different cultures, religions and family lives that need to be taken into consideration when workig with children.
