Not to sure, I think you can run under the school number, you would then be inspected as part of the school. Using the school number would allow allow parents to claim the childcare bit of working tax credits and also childcare vouchers for some.
I would ring Ofsted and ask there advice or do you have Childcare development workers in your area?
Good luckand let us know how you get on

you would need to top up as you need a level 3 in playwork, you should be able to do the transitional module which is 2 units from the full level 3 because you have a ccld level 3. your out of schools club coordinator should know what funding and courses are available in your area

yes from september 2009 ofsted want all playworkers qualified and all playwork leaders/supervisors qualified to level 3, I have nvq3 in early years and education this is no longer valid for me to run the after school club, ofsted gave me a year to top up

i dont think the head knows anything bout after school club i think she just thinks teaching assistants can run it and thats it, i have level 2 in playwork and will top up the level 3, just wish she knew more about it and realises she needs someone qualifed to run it, ive told her id love to do it as i enjoyed it so much and would love to make it successful and get more kids in, dont think she has thought of anything, theres things like the shopping needs getting and i carnt see her going to tesco on a morning for ceral at 7am before work
ill have a word tomorrow and tell her what she needs to do she says we dont have to regesiter with ofsted but i think we do

thanks

I agree with Farleys, that leaders/supervisors should have level 3 Playwork at least, however in my area the courses are very rare and located miles away.
We have two level 3 and two level 2 playworkers and all the others are either Early Years, TA's or NNEB's, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about upskilling eveyone.

The CCLD covers birth to the age of 16 and as you have a level 3 you are qualified to manage the OOS Club. Therefore you do NOT need to undertake the level 3 in playwork.

If you are unsure whether or not your qualifications are valid go to the CWDC (Children's Workforce Development Council) website where you can type in your exact qualification and see which roles in childcare you are qualified for. It will also tell you how to update your qualifications if you need to.

I stand corrected, however I was under the impression that the aim is for everyone working in playwork, with any childcare qualification level 3, needs the Playwork transitional award.

Check out the Out of School Alliance for all info on OOSC
