Book Review Book Review: Giraffes Can't Dance ~ Giles Andreae

Giraffes Can't Dance ~ Written by Giles Andreae and Illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees

Excellent rhyming story about Gerald the Giraffe
Quote:
Whose neck was long and slim, But his knees were awfully bandy And his legs were rather thin...
Perfect for an All about me theme and a lesson in the things we can achieve once we find the 'path meant for us

I love this book. I used it for my NVQ 3 to get the children to talk about how they thought Gerald felt when the other animals were laughing at him and getting them to relate it to their play with other children and how things make them feel, and how they could make people feel happy instead of sad. We then had a musical movement session where I got the children to dance to the music as monkeys, giraffes, elephants etc. The children really enjoyed it. My assessor was impressed too!!!
