Evening everyone, im new to the forum and have to say the information i have read so far is fab!

Im wondering though if one of you lovely people can please help me as I have complete mind block at the moment :(

The question im stuck on is How theories of development and frameworks to support development influence current practise in schools

I know the theorists are Skinner, Piaget, Watson, Pavlov, Maslow, Bandura, Freud. Also on the criteria is Social Pedagogy which I have never heard of

Thanks all for reading x

What it's really asking you to do is to relate the theories to your current practice. Perhaps writing reflective accounts as evidence would help. If you can think of an activity that you have carried out, reflect on the activity and relate it to the theorist you believe it matches. For example, a child that is having difficulties settling in may have attachment needs. John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth are the theorists that has looked in to attachment needs. Therefore you need to be aware of their theory to be able to deal with attachment needs.

3 Explain how theories of development and frameworks to support development influence current practice.

Skinner (1905~1990) Skinners theory was that of behaviour, he claimed that rewarding positive behaviour and ignoring bad behaviour would influence a lot of work with children who have learning or behavioural issues i.e. in class a chosen table may receive the ‘best behaved of the day’ sticker for their chart, this will encourage the children’s good behaviour in hope that they will keep on receiving rewards.
Albert Bandura; Bandura is a social learning theorist, he believed that people imitate and copy through observation. His theory is often referred to as a bridge between behavioural and cognitive learning as it encompasses memory, attention and motivation. E.g. when children are role playing they imitate and copy adult behaviour and phrases that a parent/carer would use. They may also create scenario’s; ironing, shopping and carry out household chores that they have witnessed being done in their home

I found a great book in the college library to help me with this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0...SIN=043545532X

I also added a bit about what the school i am doing my placement at, uses that is associated with the theories.
