SOS Supporting emergent mathematics

Hi,
I'm struggling to answer or find enough information for a few of the questions in this unit.

- three environmental and three biological factors that affects mathematics (I can only come up with 1 biological and 2 environmental which are Dyscalculia, Social economic and parental support)
- role of practitioner when meeting current framework requirements for mathematics
- opportunities for children’s emergent mathematical development relating to: Sustained shared thinking, Group learning and Socialisation
- importance of using mathematical language with children

any help at all would be wonderful, thanks!

Hi, a warm welcome to the site :) biological could include hearing impairment, sight impairment, Downs's Syndrome and environmental could the setting and how it supports children's emergent maths eg. displays, resources, activities.

Page 238 of this EYE handbook looks at emergent mathematical skills

The role of the practitioner in supporting maths on page 244

Scaffolding children's mathematical learning & sustained shared thinking on page 245/6

Understanding how maths relates to children's everyday lives on page 239 and using mathematical language on page 249

Some of these pages are available to read in the amazon preview for example, if you search for 'concept and vocabulary' click the link to page 249 or 'biological' and the link to page 349

Hope this helps a little, please feel free to post whenever needed xx
