I have literally just done this ! I covered it by writing a reflection, this covered having a meeting with a parent who had asked for help/advice regarding problems they were having at home. We advised them of the local services/agencies that were available to them, how they linked to our setting and how we could help them to access them. The parents were not aware that such agencies/services were even available to them.

So difficulties in accessing provision/services could simply be that someone is not aware of provisions are available or don't know how to go about accessing them. By having good relationships with parents/families; they are more likely to approach you and ask for help.

By observing and assessing children, you should be able to see if a child may be struggling in certain areas, may have speach and language difficulties, learning difficulties etc and your setting should have procedures and practices in place to raise concerns with parents and offer referral to outside agencies.

Hope this helps (and makes sense).
