Default help please

hey can someone please help me Explain how to monitor children and young people’s development using different methods?
how you would check on children’s development so see if they are progressing normally in
all areas. You can look at the ways in which children’s progress is monitored and state the ‘methods’ eg Health
checks, screening tests, observations, learning journals etc. Don’t forget the older children too, how is their
progress monitored
can someone please tell me what are learning journals?
screening test?
health cheacks?
thank you!!

Learning journeys are what they do in all nursery ect it is for the EYFS, from when they start to when they finish, if your in a placement then they should have them for all children just ask someone to explain then to you.
Screening checks- after a baby is born they have a hearing check which is screening, heel prick check screening for Cystic Fibrosis, reflexes and the hip test are done this is the baseline which lead into the routine child health surveillance programme. Whilst in hospital all mothers are given a red book this is the child’s personal health record, this needs to be taken every time that the child is seen by the health visitor and when the child is immunised.
The baby can be checked between every 6-8 weeks, 6-9 months, 18-24 months, and 39-42 months, but parents can take their child to see a health visitor when ever they feel that their child needs weighing or they need advice. This is done so that they can check against a chart to see if a child is doing the things it should be doing for their age, it also helps build new charts as children are getting taller and some are even getting bigger as in putting on to much weight for their body frame.
These checks ensure that the child is healthy and growing to the chart, if their are any problems then the baby/child is referred to a specialist such as speech and hearing. Once at school a child has contact with the school nurse that will have an important input on the health of the child, they can work injunction with the health visitor and a doctor.
Every child on the age of 5 has a named health visitor.
hope this helps :0)
