General question Tasks

Hi everyone

My tutors on holiday and I haven't any tasks to do while she's away. I'm only doing the KU part of the course until I get a placement in August.

Can anyone tell me if there anything I can do with the KU part of it e.g tasks I could be doing -apart from reading up on things as I would like to keep going while she is away.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could do the mandatory units, I have forgot the questions, they should be in your file.
Their the questions about promoting communication, inclusion, equality and diversity, understanding babies and young children's development....

Don't take that as gospel though, your tutor sets your work on what your capable of... she may decide to assess some in the work place!

Thanks for that. I'm doing the SQA level 3 - I live in Scotland. I have already covered promoting inclusion, equality and diversity and child development.

What I'm looking to do is some tasks from the other units that I could use for evidence. Any ideas?

Thanks again

Hi, a warm welcome to the site, spare time is fresh air :)

If general research is of interest getting a really good idea of your country's framework - pre-birth to three & curriculum for excellence will be a huge underpinning for when your placement begins. Take a wander around Scotland.gov.uk check out what your local council website looks like and what it offers - early years, children's services, safeguarding, training courses, events, see what e-news you can sign up to that'll help keep you aware of current happenings.

If you use a search engine - google for example, enter what you're looking for and then add scotland or scotland.gov.uk as well, this can help to focus the search locally and return links that can otherwise be quite hard to find.

Getting it right for every child - GIR leaflet

Nutiritional guidance for 1 - 5 year olds

Best wishes, look forward to hearing how it goes xx

Thanks for that bit of information.

Do you know what tasks I could do? as I have started a risk assessment plan based on the knowledge that I already have in childcare. Also can you tell me if you need to do Menu planning and nutrient guidance as a task if so I can start that too.

Thanks again

Hi, I'm sorry, you don't mention any optional or mandatory units, the range is a little too large to throw in with general ideas. CCLD units are available on SQA website if it helps.

The ability to plan menus and know nutritionally balanced meals/snacks will be part of a professional practitoner's skills. There are a few threads for how other members went about preparing daily, 2 week nutritional plans for different types of diet eg. Vegan, Vegatarian, Faith based needs - search page enter 'menu'

Best wishes
