Hi supporting this awareness relies on your knowledge of what is socially acceptable behaviour, what isn't and how you behave, react or respond at these times.

Use your setting's policies and procedures to see how you're expected to support socially aware behaviour.

Why a child or young person might actively seek out negative reinforcement through socially unacceptable behaviour and the impact positive relationships have on socially aware behaviour.

Consider how you communicate with children of different ages and at different stages of development so that you know they are able to understand. What language do you use to explain the benefits of socially aware behaviour, for themselves and for those around them ie. ability to self regulate, trust, maturity, responsibility

By ensuring children know when their behaviour is likely to cause harm, upset, be criminal or detrimental to their own health and well-being you offer the opportunity of choice. Remain non-judegmental using language and information that enables children to make informed decisions about what they do and why.

Hi this link supports the National Occupational Standard for supporting children to achieve their learning potential

http://www.ocr.org.uk/images/71728-u...-potential.pdf

Read through the expectations of your role and use the practices that happen in your setting/placement regarding children's learning potential ie. identifying any learning needs, schools and attendance, personal interests, hobbies, clubs, the resources provided to help child learn and discover - books, games, trips, visits
