Book review and early learning play ideas..

One Snowy Night by Nick Butterworth
A great story with the fantastic illustrations that Nick Butterworth is famed for.

Percy the Park Keeper prepares for the cold weather as it begins to snow in the park.

With hot cocoa in hand there comes a knock at his door....

A cold squirrel asks to be invited into the warmth of Percy's hut and so begins a succsession of other park animals who ask for shelter with percy.

Room quickly starts running out in the small hut but when the last guest makes a scary appearance all the other animals scatter in fright .. finding their own comfortable corner of Percy's home.

Snowball Window Words

Turn your wall display into a giant window frame to represent the one from Percy's hut.

Cut different sized circles from white paper - size the circle depending on the number of letters per word and glue your letters/keywords inside each one.

Tape thread to each circle and hang from the top of the window frame, giving the appearance of snowy weather!

Apart from planned phonic and word building activities you can sized circles as matching games.
