im currently doing level 3 teaching assistant course and im struggling with a few learning outcomes. some of these should be observed but at the minute i cant be observed due to covid

AC 6.3 Demonstrate ways of supporting children and young people to; understand and respect other people's individuality; deal with conflict for themselves; respect the feelings and points of view of others.

Understand and respect other people's individuality
The learning environment should be a place in which all children and young people feel that they are accepted and valued, whatever their individual personalities, backgrounds or needs.
In some ways this is easier with smaller children as they can be more accepting, whereas teenagers can find it more difficult to stand up for what they think or to celebrate the fact that they are different, as they often like to be the same as their peers and are reluctant to stand out. It is up to us as adults to encourage pupils to learn to value and enjoy the fact that we are not all the same.

Deal with conflicts for themselves, and respect the feelings and points of view of others
As we encourage pupils to be individuals, there are likely to be situations in which they have disagreements and areas of conflict with their peers. Adults will need to support children and young people in developing ways of managing their emotions as well as being able to articulate how they are feeling. Discussions and debates can be an effective forum for doing this, particularly for older children and young people, as they will be encouraged to think about the points of view of others. They will also need to learn to think about the way in which their actions impact on others. It can be helpful to use tools such as restorative justice to enable them to see others' point of view. They may then be able to talk through and resolve conflict for themselves rather than by reacting in a negative way.
