I am on my last unit but have a few of questions i'm a bit stuck on. I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to help steer me in the right direction please

Explain how to balance the wishes of parents, carers and families with the
agreed procedures and policies of the setting and the rights of the child

Clarify the importance of identifying the needs and expectations of parents, carers and families

Explain what is meant by a ‘shared understanding’ with parents, carers and families and how to achieve this

Explain the valuable input of parents and carers in relation to multi-agency working

Hi a warm welcome to the site.

The first criteria is about how your setting communicates and shares information about it's policies and procedures with the parents of your attending children. For example, does your playwork setting have a Key person system in place? Are there specific times when you're able to talk through the different activities offerd by the setting with parents and see how they feel about them and other parts of the setting's daily routine?

Information about this can also be shared through literature such as leaflets, marketing/promotional media, prospectus, timetables and event calender.

The National Occupational Standard will help with wording as it explains the performace expected of playwork professionals - Engage with parents and children in the playwork environment

This isample chapter is also useful reading. Pages 208 and 211+ will help you think about what happens in your setting - working with parents

Page 216 states:

Shared working is the concept of parents and settings working closely together. This approach is considered to be best practice in early years. Many settings will do the following things to achieve shared working.

In the same way shared understanding means you've talked about things with parents so that you both have an understanding of what happens and the aim of activities.
