Default 303 Case Studies

Hi
Not really got my teeth into this NVQ yet.......but finding this forum such a great help...
My assessor has left me to do "case Studies" for 303 namely childrens development 0 - 16 years.
What exactly is a case study...??
I am sure I am missing the point...
Or would i be easier talking about the "averag"e childs development through the stages...
Thanks for reading and hopefully assisting,,,
Hils

My candidates - I work through a college - are expected to do an 'overall 'list/chart of as you say the 'average chilld' throughout all major stages 0-16 , and are adivised to use a book such as 'Child Development - an illustrated guide' by Carolyn Meggitt (or similiar) to help them........ They then have to do a 'case study' on a choosen (by candidate) child which includes 3 observations - a summary of were their at in terms of child development - this is linked to theories... they then have to do 'next step' planning to help move the child on. I usually suggest - if possible they plan a acitivity which I then go and observe.
Hope this makes sense!!

i split my study into 4 ages. 0-3, 4-7,8-12, 12-16.
I then covered physical development. social, emotional and behavioural development and finally communication and intellectual development. If you have the book byMiranda Walker on CCLD it breaks it down for you. My assessor said it was perfectly ok to do that. Hope this helps. This forum is great and i have had so much help from them.
