Default why is it important to look at a child's development holistically

Hiya, just answered this question. Not sure if I have answered it correctly though.
'It is important to remeber that a child does not develop and grow in seperatr areas nut as a whloe. By looking at growth and development of a child as a whloe, we are much better equipped to understand why a child behaves in a certain way and reasons behind the things they do. For example, a child who is asked to do something, may ignore the request for a number of reasons, such as not understanding the request, may be seeking atention, not wanting to do the request etc. By looking at the child as a 'whloe' - the holistic approach, we are able to work out the vareity of reasons for the child's behaviour.'

Is this an OK answer, or is there anything else i should add?
Cheers!

It is important to look at child development holistically as so that you can see the child's development as a whole. Children learn things in stages, such as you have to walk before you can run. Check out 'Child development by Carolyn Meggitt.
This book has helped me in this course and it was not too much money... Well worth the buy for all the times I have used it.

Best of luck,
