Favourite Childhood game

What was your favourite outdoor game /activity as a child?

We lived quite close to a woodland & stream so would spend hours with a good friend building camps, fishing (urghh don't ask !!) and getting generally mucky lol

We had a caravan set in woods in the countryside and used to spend every weekend and holiday there. We would play Robin Hood, Cops & Robbers and the like - except, being the only girl (my playpals were my younger brother and the 2 boys next door!), I would be the 'damsel' tied to a tree!! Grr. Other 'activities' included tree-climbing, fishing, bike-riding and chasing bullocks! Not advisable!!:rotfl: If I was at home though, it was usually skipping or jumping over stretched elastic! Happy Days.

What is it with Bullocks, heifers and dogs ??

I lost count of the times they'd chase the dog & whom ever was with it across the field !!

The worst panic I remember feeling when out playing was unexpectedly hitting a bog on the moors and losing a wellie in it .. now that's suction

It's hard to say I had a favourite game, as I had many...

I was lucky to be bought up when we didn't worry too much about threat from others. The entire street would look out for each other, and we were on a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the rat race.

We enjoyed hours of Kerby. 2 person game throwing a football (or similar size ball) across the road, trying to hit the kerb and get it to bounce back into your own hands on the other side of the road.

We also played alot of rounders, either with a football or with a bat. We had a large green and made full use of it.

We also played Marbles on the metal covers.

We would make ramps and get our bikes out and try table tops and other stunts

I also used to roller skate lots, or play with my Pogo stick.

Oh what fun those days were
