it is late now but that sounds spot on .. know it's important to have high expectations but realise setting goals unrealistically would be detrimental to development and well being.
Having higher expectations is being able to see where someone is heading, planning out the steps to get there and mapping a route ... it shows caring, awareness, interest & hope for whatever the future has - creating provision for positive progression .. but in the same way being able to drop all of that, give a great big hug & say 'blow it .... is as equally important
I'll probably be back to edit this but Hansel & Gretel's trek through the wood with the breadcrumbs oddly comes to mind. lol
