2.2. Describe the lines of reporting and responsibility to meet the safeguarding, protection and welfare requirements of children.

Hi, you will also need to ask your setting about this as you''ll be expected to know who to report information to in your setting.

Page 144: Reporting lines
For partnership to be effective, tghere have to be clear lines of reporting. This ensures that information is given to those who need it and that information does not go astray. It is ususal, for example, for children's key persons in early years settings to share and exchange information on a day-to-day basis with parents. On the other hand, where there are safeguarding concerns about a child's welfare, information will be exchanged between the early years setting's designated person and other professionals.

Student on placement or volunteer
Responsibility - To follow policies and procedures and to summon further assistance in the event of an accident, incident or emergency.:
May need to report to: Whoever is acting as placement supervisor or, in the event of an emergency, any member of staff.


Member of staff with a first aid qualification
Responsibility - Top provide immediate assistance in the event of a medical emergency. They may provide direction to others, for example, ask them to call for an amulance.
May need to report: Medical teams in the event of a child needing medical attention.


Health and safety officer/fire officer
Responsibility - To ensure that the health an d safety/fire policy is being followed and to adviuse the manager as to how to make improvements. Should act on reports by members of staff about faulty equipment and potential hazards.
May need to report to: depends on the setting but usually deputy manage ror head teacher will liase with the H&S officer


Deputy
Responsibility - to take responsibilities in the absence of the manager. To take specific responsibilities for health and safety in some roles.
May need to report to the manager.


Manager/head teacher
Responsibility - to ensure the smooth running of the setting. To ensure that all policies relating to health and safety are being followed.
May need to report to Parents in the event of a serious injury, incident or emergency


Director/owner/governors
Responsibility - To take legal responsibility in the event that an accident, incident or emergency is the fault of the setting.
May need to report to the Health and Safety Executive and Ofsted.
