Hiya, welcome to Silkysteps.

Penny Tassoni's books have been recommended a few times although gathering together information & finding the time to enjoy digging out answers is half the ermm fun of learning.

Have you found your college helpful in handing out any study tips ?

Enjoy the site
xx

Welcome Janb!

This is a fantastic site, scroll through the previous posts and I'm sure they will help you along the way.
Penny Tassoni is a must for this course, I use her Child Development book, I have the 6-16years one as I have done up to 8years in the Level 2. If you haven't done the Level 2 you will need one that covers birth to 16.
I also have NVQ Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development- Penny Tassoni, Kath Bulman, Kate Beith. This is the text book we were told to get in our first lesson at college.
If you are stuck on anything and have already scrolled through and can't find what you need, post your question and I'm sure you will get help you need!
Good Luck!

hi

thank you for such prompt replies. i am going to need ALOT OF LUCK!

to be honest last sunday i was on the verge of packing it in before i had even started. i spent 2 hours on the first question of the first unit. trying to find answers on the internet and not getting anywhere.
i have now postponed starting it until sept and i will have a think about it. my tutor said the book has all the answers and help i will need to complete it??? i am doing the course from home as there is no way i can get to a college.

i havent time for all the research on the internet with being a childminder and a mum of 2 plus other home committments. if the whole thing is going to be as involved and time consuming i will have to stop.
i know i have to put work in to it but maybe i didnt realise how much?

take care
janb

Doing an nvq is never an easy option ( Im doing my level 4) but it is rewarding.
I too have 2 young children and loads of other commitments its just a case of being organised and making time, I used to go to bed quite early - but not anymore!!
If you can go at your own pace and have the support from a wonderful site like this it can make it bearable - I have learnt so much and it has made me reflect on how and why I do things and hopefully made me a better practitioner.
Good luck

It is a daunting task, like many things that are time consuming, seemingly never ending and which haven't become part and parcel of daily life - but it can work .. you just have to go really really slowly

Next time you have a sit down break & a coffee come in here or go to other forums and post the first thought that stops you looking for a question's answer or KE - Knowledge Evidence .. possibly beginning 'where or what - who or how include the unit number and everyone will try to help out.

I'm not sure how easy it is to get hold of CCLD books from a mobile library scheme - you could see what search results there are for your County Library .. but trying to locate second hand editions online might be a good starting point
