Hi, make sure you have sound knowledge of all your policies and procedures, know the EYFS and why we use it, and make sure all your staff are aware of all this aswell.....especially where the fire extinguishers are, first aid box is situated..do all staff know who is in charge of child protection, health and safety etc have you got all the information on site that is needed..including uptodate contact info for parents etc are all staff uptodate with safeguarding children, confidentiality etc
hope this helps

They will also be looking at how you keep parents informed of what's going on in the setting and how you involve them in their child's education (or at least give them the opportunity).

Ofsted Inspectors don't always ask the appointed person for child protection questions, they are much more likely to pick out a member of staff at random. Therefore ensure that all staff know what do do if they are worried a child is being abused. You sjhould also have a copy of this @What to do if you are worried a child is being abused' downloadable from the web Also
Know the number to ring to make a referral
Have a copy of What to do if you are worried etc available for parents to read
They will ask about your procedures for confidentiality
Your whistle blowing procedure- did you know there is a whistle blowing hotline run by Ofsted?
Do you know the catergories of abuse?
What are your procedures for informing parents?
They will check that visitors sign in and out.
PS I used to deliver Child Protection (Safeguarding Children) Training until very recently when I retired, so I am always happy to help in this subject.
Good Luck!

Thank you for that and the offer of help but we have just experienced 1st hand a very serious case involving child protection so it is very much in the for front of our minds and knowledge. Do you have to have a whistle blowing policy?

They are really hot on safeguarding and recruitment at the moment. A whistleblowing policy is definately a good thing x

Yes, Look at the Statutory Requirements in the Early Years Foundation Stage. I believe that someone has already posted a whistle blowing policy on one of the forums
Cheers
