hey :) Im am working on this at the moment and this is what the handbook says for 1.2

Imaginative play – This helps young children explore a variety of roles that they have seen among adults and other children, either in the nursery setting or at home. This can encourage confidence in children, as playing certain roles can make them feel powerful, this is why playing a super hero or mummies and daddies is a popular game among many children. Imaginative play also helps children’s language and communication skills as they often play together or use their language to direct small world characters.
Art - this includes mark making, drawing and painting. Finding ways to represent either words or images is another way in which children can express themselves. They can express emotions and feels through the physical way they make marks as well as the colours and size of shapes and lines they use. Mark making, painting and drawing also help children’s fine and gross motor skills to develop.
Creative movement – moving to music, including dancing or just moving in a creative way allows self-expression and is also an enjoyable social activity. This also helps with gross motor skills, balance and co-ordination.
Modelling and sculpting – this can help with children’s cognitive development as they learn about the properties of materials. They can express themselves and gain confidence. It will also help with fine motor skills, e.g. cutting and sticking.
Music – singing and playing musical instruments is a fun way for children to learn to communicate. Singing helps children’s speech production and their auditory discrimination, which is a skill required for reading. Music in all forms can help children gain confidence and learn to work together. Fine and gross motor skills are helped through the use of instruments.

I hope this helps at all!
