Hi
what about an abstacle course such as hoops, balls (throwing into buckets, rolling them), under and over objects, stilts, hopping, skipping, going around objects, swirving in and out of cones etc. They would learn so much from this and they will enioy this and it will help support their turn taking.

You know what mockingbird, I am getting now where with my placement. I actually some times find it a chore going in as I don't really do anything.really gets to me if I could find a placement tomorrow then I would change like a shot but unfourtuntly no placments available.

This afternoon I was sat in a class room of about 15 children sitting with them while they did time out, As fridays is golden afternoon and those children who havent got 6 golden coins can not take part in the fun activities so I had to supervise these children witht he class teacher while the others were of having fun.

Everything I come up with they say no I was really looking forward in doing the bear hunt as it would be teaching them different movements as well as finding different ways of moving though things using body movements. I wasn't going to use any equipment it would of just been the children thinking of differnet body movements we can use to go through the diffeent parts of the trail like going in the mud putting our feet in and pulling them out slowly as if we were getting stuck etc. but techer said no as she said there is not a lot of room. I'm actually dreading my assessment as I know it will not go well at all

Aww... You will do great whatever you come up with...
It doesn't help though, when you get no support from the people you are supposed to be getting support from in the first place..
Don't let them get you down.. They are probably just jealous because you are thinking of all these good things and their not !

Hi, I've added a few more ideas to the other thread. a positive from your time out session is the knowledge gain on how reward schemes discriminate against children using behaviour management as the guise. Is it at all possible you can plan for another occasion of supervision and maybe familiarise yourself with some hand games? heads down thumbs up is good funclapping.com, fingerplay here is a beehive, where are the bees, hidden inside where nobody sees ..

Very best wishes with the assessment, if you're open & honest with your assessor I'm sure they'll understand.

xx

Hi

why can't you take the children that have been awarded with the 6 golden coins to do the bear hunt with, how do your setting plan for challenging big movement skills if you can't do some form of obstacle course, do they have more than one activity at a time as the children are ment to have choices, when we do this we are a smallish setting with around 20 children per morning we offer 2/3 choices for the children and if they all want to do it we make sure that we rotate our activities with the same amount of time for the child so for instance just say we are playing board games in 1 room and parachute in another, they all get a choice and if they all want to do the parachute we take half of the children for 15 mins and then we swap with the other children and they have 15 mins too.

Poor you i know from first hand experience how hard it is with the area you have but there is a way around nearly everything. we are a pack away setting so everything we have needs to be put away each day with very little storage but we still have a climbing frame that we set up indoors for the children to use as we have a small garden area that isn't big enough for big large items of equipment.

Hope you find something that you are able to use

Lynne
