By providing the right environment for the children in your care you will be able to promote their physical, intellectual, emotional, social and linguistic development.

Physical development….The environment of where I work meet the needs of the children’s physical development needs by providing clear space, appropriate sized furniture, tactile objects and surfaces, outdoor spaces and varied equipment and appropriate resources and equipment. All these go into providing the children the materials they need to use their large and fine motor skills, fine manipulative skills, spatial awareness, balance and sensory awareness.

Social and emotional development…. We meet the child’s needs in this area by using positive images in visual displays, appropriate play and group time areas, accessible resources, appropriately sized furniture, secure and comfortable areas and clear behavioral expectations shown in displays/notices. These help the child’s development in this area by giving them a sense of identity, confidence, being able to socialize with other children and adults, giving them independence and promoting positive behavior.

Intellectual development…. We provide provision of age-appropriate resources, provision of a wide range of activities and experiences, space to explore through play, informative displays and labeling and an accessible book area. These aid the children’s development by allowing exploratory play, imitative play, an understanding of causes and consequences, imaginary play, an understanding of time, developing mathematical concepts, use of language and concentration.

Language development….For this we provide a comfortable area to have adult/child communication, appropriate posters, notices and pictures, a wide range of appropriate experiences, activities and resources, extensive and attractively presented reading resources, imaginative play opportunities and a provision of co-operative play opportunities. These give the children the development by of communication between adults and children, communication between children, one-to-one communication, understanding of instructions, listening and taking part in musical activities, development of written and verbal communication and to express feelings and wishes.

All the above development areas takes into account a child’s gender by making sure we provide dolls and books for both boys and girls etc. We also take into account a child’s individual culture and ethnicity by placing up visual posters and by having toys and books etc with obvious points towards everybody of all cultures and different ethnic groups working together and being friends. We provide ample space also for children with different needs and abilities and are also able to adapt our activities to involve everybody where possible

Hope this helps...I know it goes on a bit...sorry..lol
