the role of Senco

I feel that the role of the SENCO has been diluted; due to the new legislation and creation of Staffordshire Families First espcially the Local Support Teams where professionals are co ordinated to work with families and children from 0-19. The professionals having the opportunities to refer to Early Years Forum and directly to Early Years paediatricians. Also the assessment route has been flooded with referals into special needs schools thus leaving out the role of the Early Years SENCO.
