Default Assignement help?

Hiya

Im doing my assignment and am on my first year of this course and i dont really know what to put for this question, is there anyone that can help?

Explain four reasons why early practitioners should listen to childrens views and value their opinions.

I mean ive put a few points about building their confidence and self esteem but other than that im not really sure on what to write.

What about children are more likely to be interested in something if you have asked for their views and opinions. For instance if you are setting up a new Home Corner/Role play area you could ask the children what they would like it to be.

You need to show that every child is valued and by listening to they views, they will have a sense of belonging in the group.

listening to (and observing) children allows you to identify their individual needs and interests.
"Planning for individual needs" is a key term with my manager!

I don't know if this sort of thing would be along the right lines, but something about extending learning maybe? Today a little boy at my setting was pretending to put fires out with a hose he made using popoids. Within a few minutes I had helped him set up a load of chairs (a fire engine), fetched the firemen helmets from the dress up box and set up a phone on a chair for them to receive emergency calls. By listening to his interests I was able to extend what may have lasted a few minutes into half an hours child initiated play!
