Carl Rogers (1902-1987) was a humanist and a psychologist. Like Abraham Maslow, his theories see the individual as exactly that, a unique, holistic, whole person with needs that require fulfillment in order to be satisfied with the way their life is going and all that involves.
His work focussed on how people perceive and interpret events rather than behaviour (BF Skinner). He added to the theroy of humanism by stating individuals can only grow if their environments enable it - openness and self-disclosure.
Some terms to look into or check with your tutor's teaching materials are 'self-actualisation, the ideal self and requirement/need to express this through behaviour -
