help!!!! k3d166

hi all, this is my first visit to silkysteps and a little nervous. i have to re-sub k3d166, strategies to show we respect childrens individuality. i have included different appearances, personalities, behaviours, allowing children to speak openly, not condemning them for being different, allow them to express themselves and talk about their culture, religion and show off their talents. my assessor wants to know what other ways we show respect for children's individuality. am i missing the point here?

Hi and a warm welcome to Silkysteps

Strategies or plans of action could relate to what actual processes & functions you have in place at your setting so that everything you said above can be put into action.

Policies and procedures that show respect for individuality are something that you can use to base your practice from.

Have you got access to these to have a read through ?

The daily routine & methods in operation are the 'frontline strategies that help put the theory of everything you said into practice.
For example what type of registration system do you have - is it a group registration, self registration or maybe 'silent system where the children are marked in as they enter preschool or a combination of all or something else !?
As a group you might of decided why that system works best for you or you may of inherited it from past management... does it still promote respect for the individuality of children ?

Snack time/rolling/cafe, is there a parent/carer rota in place, outdoor play opportunities, medical provision, book corner, library book system, positioning and layout of furniture & equipment, availability of role play and visual resources.

An ongoing fundraising strategy that has an aim of buying things to ensure respect of individuality - behavioural stategies that help staff promote individuality.

A little heavy going perhaps but the first couple of paragraphs on this page is good information - Demystifying strategy from Harvard business
Author: Michael Watkins on September 10, 2007 4:56 PM

For a slightly longer read and an 'organisational step up, this link is to the 1998 Green Paper - The National Childcare strategy .. the summary is good and helps look at what the Gov. want to see on behalf of everyone ~ and the Ten year strategy which was published in 2004.

Have you got long before it has to be re submitted?

Best wishes xx
