Hi, in summary modelling behaviour has an impact on everyone who sees it, hears it, and feels it! It helps to demonstrate the professionalism of a setting's staff members by showing what's expected of adult's and children's conduct and helps to promote learning by offering an example about how rewarding a positive approach, attitude and genuine interest is.

This quote from page 230 of the Heinemann level 3 handbook helps to explain modelling

' It is easy to forget when working with children that modelling is an effective way to help children learn. Many children will watch what an adult does and then try to repeat the actions, skills or words. This is a powerful method of helping toddlers to try out new experiences or to learn a new skill. Modelling is very useful to help children become interested in activities that they may not have noticed or explored before. This technique links to the social learning model that we looked at earlier (see unit CYP3.1)

Social learning theorist Albert Bandura, the bobo doll experiment and observational learning.
