Appropriate foods are things sthey can chew & swallow safely so they do not choke, not spicey or salty, foods that won't cause allergies or intollerences. Quite often, some foods can cause reactions in young children but as the children get older these sensitivites lessen. Healthy balanced diets. Very young babies/toddlers will need pureed foods & soft small pieces. As fresh as possible, not full of additives etc.

If you have any of the recommended NVQ text books the information will be in there.
