Hiya,

a child that has afro hair it is very thick, so if you are brushing it you would need to use a wide tooth comb with rounded ends and they may also use oils daily that are massaged into the scalp to help prevent breakage in the hair shaft. This is something that you will need to discuss with parents/carers.

a child with head lice, it is important that you inform the parents/carers do not put any lotions on the childs head without their consent. The child will need to be reassured that they havent done anything wrong and their not dirty. It is important that the head lice are dealt with before the child has any contact with other children.

a baby with a sore bottom - it is important to inform parent/carers they may have cream they wish you to apply to the childs bottom always with consent and you must follow your settings policies and procedures, also frequent change of nappy is helpful to stop it getting worse. check it is nappy rash and not a sign of abuse follow safeguard procedures).

a child with eczema - check with parents/carers what they do, they may have special creams to use but only with their consent. make sure the creams are stored safely and labelled with the childs name. If a child has eczema it is best not to have a bath every day as that dries the skin out.

a child with a perfume allergy - again speak to the parents/carers see what they do, the child might have their own perfume free products that they use.

hope this gives you a little idea, gud luk
