Hi got this answer:
Washing gloop is environmentally friendly because it uses soap rather than detergent. Soap and soda crystals break down in water faster than detergent, thus causing a lot less harm when they get into the water table and come into contact with fish and other creatures.

Gloop is also a messy play mix of two natural earth friendly ingredients - water and wet-milled maize grain aka cornflour or cornstarch. Without additives both are non toxic to participants and the environment.
