Just had a letter saying that the Intellectual Property Office are changing their policy ...
From October 1st 2007 those that submit a Trademark similar or like another won't be immediately turned away and their money ... possible min of £250.00 + lost !!!
They'll be informed of the situation & asked what they want to do next .. if they continue the Owners of the original/similar Trade Mark will be informed & they will have the decision as to whether to stop the application & take matters further !
Not sure about all those out there who take on paid work & clients to do this .. but for the independant (on a zero budget & steep learning curve) people ... like me, it's a complete & utter winner
The biggest fear factor when applying for Silkysteps
® was the 'not knowing who had what & had I missed something = should I be paying someone just in case .. so this is absolutely fantastic !!
I know there's still risk, but at least the authorising body has undertaken full responsibility for applicants new & old .. thumbs up big time to them

Sorry I'm not sure how interesting or relevant this is .. but it's such cool news, sad huh
lol
Oo one up for their equality & equal Ops policy as well !!
Perhaps they can also consider giving successful submission owners back their 'time in process' so that they don't lose out on the amount of time they can actually use the
® !!
