Help SOS EYE 2 Understand and promote child development

Studying Level 3 EYE and struggling with the following:

•How is a child’s development influences by prenatal and post-natal factors?
•What are the external factors that influence the development of a child?
•Think about the developmental theories. Pick any two theories and explain how they have influenced the Early Years Framework
•Please explain any 3 types of observation methods that you can use to identify children’s progress. How do these methods then help you in planning activities and provide support for further development?

please help x

Hi, a warm welcome to the site. Has your tutor said when they'll be teaching this part of your course to you? and the handbook that they feel is best to support you whilst doing the course?

•How is a child’s development influences by prenatal and post-natal factors?

Prenatal or ante-natal care is about the health screening a mother can expect to be part of - scans, blood tests, vitamin supplements, diet and any potentially damaging substance use eg. smoking, alchohol, drugs. Page 4+ of this CYPW handbook is useful reading.

•What are the external factors that influence the development of a child?

This thread may help: http://www.silkysteps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11052

•Think about the developmental theories. Pick any two theories and explain how they have influenced the Early Years Framework

Which theories has your tutor explained to you?

Maybe look at attachment theory and cognitive (p. 349 of this book)

• Please explain any 3 types of observation methods that you can use to identify children’s progress. How do these methods then help you in planning activities and provide support for further development?

Which observational methods are used in your setting? This thread looks at what they might be: http://www.silkysteps.com/forum/show...8222#post48222

Hope this helps xx
