I'm confused Need HELP

Hello

I am new on here and I am going through my first module assignments and I am on the last question and I don't know what to do as I think I could be wrong in what I am thinking

Does EAL mean a child will have special educational needs? Explain your answer

I thought yes EAL meant a child does have special educational needs as children who are Deaf will be able to speak English but they would need to use sign language as another language.

But I looked up the question and some else has said no EAL doesn't mean a child will have special educational needs so I don't know if I am just confused and got confused with what the question is asking me

Could someone help me please ?

Thank you

Hi welcome to the site. EAL is an acronym for English as an Additional Language. It's used when children and families speak a home language which is not English.

This is a useful read https://childlawadvice.org.uk/inform...ational-needs/

The question is helping you to look at what EAL means and then what SEN means xx

Best wishes
