Hi, how is children's development monitored, recorded and reviewed in your setting?
Who does your setting liase with regarding children's development and early concerns?
At what point does your setting consider asking external professionals about assessing a child's needs?
Use the setting's policies and procedures to set out your approach to this case study and look at how you recognise & respect each persons right to their views and support them accordingly.
The barrier between the parents perspectives is a real one. The father might be right in feeling he's supporting his child by stepping back from the concern, and his wife by expressing how everyone is probably worrying for no reason, however if there is a delay the child is at risk of being left to struggle with their communication and learning which will impact further on his frustrated behaviour and development.
Mum's observations draw on the 11 month old who's showing expected stages of development for her age and highlight what her brother is yet to reach.

The child's best interests are your priority. What observations would the key-person take to record his development?
This case study example on Talking Point shows the format you can apply

and a case study structure could take this format:
Introduction
Background
Issues to be resolved
Actions taken and who is involved
Result
What next
