Default CYP Core 3.2.1 Assess a child or young person’s development in the following areas:

physical, communication, intellectual/cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural, moral.

I really need help at this, does anyone has an example to me to see? I only work 1 day at a nursery, and I don't have much help there.
I promise I wont copy and paste, please!! Thanks a lot!

Hi, it isn't a case of not copy and pasting xx this criteria needs to reflect your knowledge of those developmental areas and how you identify them when observing children. it means that other's work is not at all relevant to you.

Quote from page 161 of the Collins handbook

Assessing Development

Assessment of children and young people may focus on many different area of development or behaviour, including:

Physical skills
for example, how children control their bodies and coordinate their movements, or how a child uses hand-eye co-ordination and manipulative skills.

Intellectual (cognitive) skills for example, how a toddler users problem-solving skills, how a child learns to read, write and count or how a young person achieves in academic tests.

Communication skills, for example, how toddlers learn to use language to communicate their needs, how a child starts to learn the rules of grammar, or the communication skills a young person uses to negotiate with their parents.

Social, emotional and behavioural skills, for example how toddlers develop independence, how children learn to share and play together or how young people learn to express and manage their feelings.

Moral development,
for example how a child learns about right an wrong or acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.

One of the most important ways that information is collected for assessing the development of children and young people is through the process of observation. There are many different ways to carry out and record observations; some methods are more effective than others.

I understand, but I just don't know how to start.. Seeing someone else work would give me idea so I would just adapt to the child I take care of. If you know what I mean.
Thanks for the information. xx
