I have a question a) Explain how a learning support practitioner may contribute to the planning

Hi Guys,

I'm doing my level 3, supporting teaching and learning in schools and am stuck on this question:

a) Explain how a learning support practitioner may contribute to the planning, delivery and review of learning activities for the following areas.
• literacy skills
• numeracy skills
• ICT skills
• problem solving skills

Can't seem to get started.

Could someone please help?? TIA

Hi, 'as a learning practitioner/teaching assistant I contribute toward the planning, delivery and review of activities by ...

consider if you speak with the class teacher before a lesson starts, do you check how activities are expected to progress, can find different resources for an activity?
Do you speak with the teacher at the end of the lesson/day where any record keeping sheets are used to review how the activities went?
Are there planned meetings where you offer activity ideas?

If you have access to this STL handbook page 46+ has the information you need for knowledge and to link it to what you do in daily practice.

Quote:
When supporting learning, whatever the subject, you should at all times encourage pupils to develop their skills in the areas of literacy, numeracy and ICT. This is because there will always be some overlap in what children are required to do. If you have opportunities, for example, to include ICT in a learning activity for another subject area, you could discuss ways of doing this with the teacher. When your assessor comes to see you working with pupils, you will need to think about how you show that you support these subjects in different ways, as well as through literacy, numeracy and ICT sessions.

page 222 looks at your input regarding numeracy, pg 207 for literacy
