The early years are a period of opportunity to establish a solid neural foundation for later development. The early years are also a period of increased risk that can compromise a child’s development for life. Children’s ability to develop secure relationships and their general resilience all depend on the early year care they receive from parents, pre-school teachers. Children living in poverty, disadvantaged families and communities, are at higher risk of negative outcomes during this period.
To support children and young person’s development we need to:
-safeguarding children and young people
-implementing and promoting equal opportunity
-give them opportunities to express their needs and their interests
-being positive adult role model to inform and guide their choices
-learning and skill-building opportunities that build the self-esteem and self-confidence necessary to their mental health.
-develop children’s and young people’s ability to make effective life choices by recognising them as decision-makers.
-facilitate transitions: from home to school, from primary to secondary and from childhood to adulthood.
-remove barriers and raise achievement of children with special educational needs and disabilities by:
*providing information in different ways, such as: audio, pictorial, larger print.
*an improvement to the physical environment, such as: lifts, room layout, and lighting.
*providing different range of specialists, speech therapist, sign language
-improving relationships between different racial groups
-ensuring that staff working at school reflect cultural diversity of society
-promoting greater involvement of parents and community
-improving the behaviour of pupils
-sport training and team experiences to help develop effective social and communication skills, build positive relationships, make friends and find social support.

I've got all worked up and have got serious writers block I can't even write a sentence! I've researched til my eyes ache and the Lv3 handbook hasn't been helpful :( Please help me :(
